Third day in Napoli we headed to Herculaneum. It is another historical place that my husband wanted to see in Naples. It was also buried when Mt. Vesuvius erupted in 79 A.D. Herculaneum was small compared to Ruins of Pompeii. So it didn't take us long to see the place. But it was fascinating to see the details, the landmark that has been left and preserved since the birth of Christ. Even the skeletons (people) who didn't make it during evacuation was still there (rest in peace).

We were so lucky because there wasn't lots of tourists, only few. My hubby thanked me as I booked the holiday in January. It's off season. You will get to see the full details when it's not crowded. It's quiet which is perfect for us! The weather was cold but nothing compared to Scotland. So don't forget to bring coats or jackets, gloves, hats and scarves to keep you cosy.

Entrance Fee: €11.00 pp

Transport from Napoli Centrale to Ercolano Station: €2.80 pp each way, we were never able to buy a return ticket.

Anyway, one of the main views from Herculaneum was the beautiful Mt. Vesuvius. The volcano that killed and buried "The Ruins of Pompeii" as well as "Herculaneum". It was very pretty and I couldn't resist taking photos as our background. The original plan was to visit Mt. Vesuvius but we canceled it as we didn't have the strength to do it. So we just chill out and dined in one of the restaurants on our way back to train station.

Beware guys eating at one of the restaurants in Herculaneum is very expensive. They will also charge your €2.00 pp for serving, which I think it's ridiculous. I knot it's not that expensive for some people but it is something that you have to be aware of. I don't see the logic. You're there to eat their meal but charging you for serving as well is a load of crap. In that case, don't give them a tip. We didn't. Also, my hubby wanted to try an orange from Italy. When we asked, it was €2.00 for one orange only. So we ditched that! Well, as people say, buying food from tourists sites is ridiculously expensive. It's true guys. So be prepared.

From Herculaneum, we went back to Napoli Centrale Station and from there, we went to Piazza del Plebescito. If I ever go back to Naples, this is the place I would love to go back and explore. We went to this place quite late and it was dark already. But the place is full of life. Definitely a high class tourist site. The people dressed very posh and very classy. The place was full of fancy cafe and restaurants. Expensive shops everywhere. The building and architecture of the place is beyond of my imagination. I just wish we had an extra day to explore the Piazza. In this place there was a castle and sea fort or coast line to see. But because it was dark. We didn't have the chance to explore. It was also hard to navigate the place when it's dark. After we had hot drinks and had gelato, we went home and rested for the night as we had early start ahead of us the next day to travel to Rome.

To get to the Piazza del Plebiscito is a different train platform. It's called Napoli Piazza Garibaldi, it's a tube station or Metro Line, which is two minutes from Napoli Centrale Station. When you get there, ask the ticket information which platform you're going to. But the station for Piazza del Plebiscito is "Municipio". From Municipio station to Plebescito is just a ten minutes walk. That's it! Tickets only cost us €1.10 each.
